10 Recent Events That Will Shake The World In 2015

Did you find anything strange in the world news these past couple weeks? Some of you may have, perhaps, but how many of you actually grasped the terrifying madness? We bring to you 10 events that appeared suddenly but are capable of bringing chaos and confusion globally in the second half of 2015…
Cyber Attack on US Businesses
On July 8th, ‘technical glitches’ and ‘internal issues’ grounded United Airlines flights, shut down the Wall Street Journal’s website and stopped the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) trading for more than three hours. Though the authorities are reluctant to give credit to hackers for the mayhem, we wonder what could have happened if terrorists, hacktivists or disgruntled insiders, could actually manage to execute a broad-scale cyber attack.
According to a report by Lloyd’s, a potential cyber attack at the national power grid could black out northeastern America for up to four days, and lead to $243 billion in immediate and tangible economic loss by bringing down just 50 of the almost 700 generators. If the hackers could down twice as many generators, they could cost the US economy $1 trillion — close to 6% of their GDP.

China’s Stunning Stock Market Crash
On July 8th, the Shanghai Composite Index plunged 5.9%, while the Shenzhen Composite dropped 2.9%. Almost 1,000 stocks fell by the 10% daily limit posed by regulators. Since June 12th, the Shanghai Composite has fallen a staggering 32%, and more than half of all publicly listed companies in China have filed for trading suspension in order to save themselves from the stock market crash. The amount of “paper wealth” that has been eroded in China is 15 times greater than the GDP of Greece. More than $3 trillion in share value has evaporated since mid-June — that’s more than the value of France’s entire stock market! Is the country on the verge of an economic collapse in 2015? It is starting to happen already.
Hackers Take Control of German Patriot Missiles
On July 7th, hackers attacked a German Patriot surface-to-air missile battery stationed along the Turkish-Syria border, took over the missile control system and stole data from it to carry out “unexplained” orders. The German army has stationed the American-made weapons at the border to protect NATO ally, Turkey.
Patriot is a dangerous weapons system – it can track up to 100 targets and send guidance data to nine individual missiles. Despite the security involved, the hackers were able to exploit not one, but two weak spots in the missile system. Terrifying? Definitely.
US President (Accidentally?) Confesses to Training Jihadist Militants
On July 6th, American President Barack Obama told reporters at the Pentagon, “We’re speeding up training of ISIL forces, including volunteers from Sunni tribes in Anbar Province.” Did Obama slip up, or did he just confess to training only the ISIL forces based in Iraq and not jihadist militants all over the region? Here is a screenshot of the official transcript, released by The White House:
obamaAmerican Eagle Silver Coins Sold Out
The US Mint ran out of silver on the same day that the price of silver plunged to its lowest in 2015, on July 7th. What is the inventory buffer at the Mint if a modest 1.6 million ounces of silver sold in one week can deplete the Mint’s planned holdings for one entire month? How does an explicit confirmation of a surge in demand for silver result in a plunge in the price of spot silver to its lowest level of the year? Does Citigroup have anything to do with this? You must wonder…
Blood Moon Visible Only in America
On June 30th, the day that the US Supreme Court made same-sex marriages legal in the country, a surprise blood moon appeared in the sky, but was evident only in the United States. Was it an environmental effect caused due to large wildfires in Canada or was it God’s way of warning His people of persecution, hardships or major events that have occurred or are to come?
NASA To Use Nuclear Weapons to Save Earth
On June 8th, NASA announced that it knew of, “no asteroid or comet currently on a collision course with Earth,” and that, no large object is likely to strike the Earth any time in the next several hundred years.” On June 22nd, NASA and the National Nuclear Security Administration announced they are now working together on the possibility of destroying hazardous asteroids using nuclear weapons. Flabbergasted? So are we. What made NASA change its mind in just two weeks? Why is NASA adamant about wasting time, money and resources to work on a way to destroy asteroids that are not even threatening us? Is NASA hiding something?

Barack Obama’s 19 Secret Laws
On June 24th, we came to know that the US President Barack Obama has issued 30 Presidential Policy Directives (PPD) since 2009; 19 of which he has ordered to be kept secret from Congress and the general public. Extreme secrecy may seem like the easier short-term strategy, but hiding reality from a public that is going to find out eventually, is just making things worse. Why are the Americans being forced to obey secret laws that do not have approval by their elected representatives?
Pope Francis Calls for New World Order — Again
On July 8th, Pope Francis called for a new economic and ecological world order where everyone shares the goods of the Earth. “The goods of the earth are meant for everyone, and however much someone may parade his property, it has a social mortgage. The tapping of natural resources, which are so abundant in Ecuador, must not be concerned with short-term benefits. As stewards of these riches which we have received, we have an obligation toward society as a whole and toward future generations. We cannot bequeath this heritage to them without proper care for the environment, without a sense of gratuitousness born of our contemplation of the created world,” he told reporters. His criticism of the current world order did not go down well with critics who called him pure Marxist. Is he challenging the world’s leading capitalist powers because he is the last Pope before Christ’s return? We will have to wait and see.
Greece Strikes Deal Hard to Impose on People
Despite getting a ‘NO’ for a bailout in a nationwide referendum, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras proceeded to enact deep economic reforms and austerity measures – Pension cuts and higher taxes as well as the sale of some government assets – in lieu of a new $96 billion bailout from Europe. The bailout deal would push Greece deeper into recession, shaving at least another 3% off of the size of the Greek economy, which has already been reduced by a quarter (25%) since 2010. Tsipras’ failure to win any significant concessions, and agreeing to the creditors’ demands for more austerity in exchange for more loans, is going to cost him and the country dearly in near future.

Merkel Makes Palestinian Girl Facing Deportation Cry. There Is More Than Meets The Eye.

poor girl with a refugee heritage had approached Chancelor Angela Merkel with a plea. Speaking excellent German she said: “I have goals like anyone else. I want to study like them … it’s very unpleasant to see how others can enjoy life, and I can’t myself.”
Merkel’s response was a fair one, and was not unexpected from any coldly calculative politician: “Politics is sometimes hard,” Merkel said. “You’re right in front of me now and you’re an extremely sympathetic person. But you also know in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon are thousands and thousands and if we were to say you can all come … we just can’t manage it.”  The girl cried; politicians are rarely in a position to help anyone other than themselves after all.
British daily the Independent reported: “Viewers slammed Ms Merkel’s administration as a ‘Regierung ohne Empathie’, meaning ‘government without empathy’ and claimed the Chancellor had ‘failed as a human on all fronts’.” This view is common. But I will play Devil’s advocate here, Because I feel that the media, and the British media in particular, are being slightly slightly unfair on Merkel.

“Just in this past week, we’ve had more than 5,000 people newly arrived, most of them from the Balkans and most of whom have just been dumped at the side of the road by people smugglers. We have to find suitable accommodation for all of them,” Bavaria’s interior minister, Joachim Herrmann, told the Guardian. Germany has some 450000 refugees working there as it stands, which isn’t much when compared to countries like Turkey’s 1.5 million refugees, but is much more than the UK, which only hosts some 126000. While Merkel’s comment might be “interpreted” by certain British publications as cold, and though I have no love for her as a politician (or any politician for that matter), her country has done far more for refugees than many developed nations. Now that that issue is out of the way, I think all this “being nice to refugees” is just the developed nations’ way of pretending to give a damn about the suffering of others:
Accepting refugees immigrants is only a band-aid solution on two much larger problems: the lack of willpower on the part of developed nations to actively invest in particularly poor communities overseas… and… war.
War is something that most developed nations are overly-happy to spend on, this very thing that produces so many refugees to begin with. The war in Afghanistan that has created a state that is completely reliant on OPIUM POPPY as a source of revenue. There was the war in Iraq, which killed a million people and created countless millions of refugees. There was the Libyan conflict that turned one of Africa’s richest nations into a hell-hole… And America and Saudi Arabia were also involved in Syria recently… I do believe that Britain was more than happy to help America with two of those conflicts. I am unsure of how much Germany had contributed to THAT farce, but if the people who caused these problems were to own up to them, then the US and Britain would be filled with refugees.

Why is it that certain developed countries are so much more willing to spend on war, create millions of refugees, accept a few hundred thousand, and pretend that they are being generous simply because their politicians are better at making speeches about how sad it is for these poor people that they had just murdered? Don’t get me wrong, I feel for the crying girl… But what of the millions more that developed nations have helped create, where is their salvation? As Merkel had correctly stated, we only feel sorry for her because we see her. Yet many of us had earlier agreed to let our politicians bomb Libya….Iraq…. and now Syria (where we bomb extremists of our own creation). Merkel is not the monster. We are.
If we really care about little girls like her, we must stop supporting these conflicts. We must stop funding the military industrial complex. We must stop focusing on the one girl we can see, and start seeing the thousands we can’t.

Jim Carrey Slams Big Pharma’s Influence Over US Political System

Earlier this month actor Jim Carrey made headlines after he tweeted his feelings about California’s new vaccine law to his 14 million followers. The new law eliminates exemptions for vaccines based on religious or personal reasons. The well-known actor called California Governor Jerry Brown a “corporate fascist.”
Following the tweets, Jim Carrey was attacked by the media for not blindly supporting vaccinations. In a post titled, “Safety and Civil Liberties: Is Corporate Clout Calling the Shots?,”Carrey stated that he supports the use of vaccines but also called out the dangers in accepting the practice without question. He writes, “Let me be clear: I fully support the use of vaccines and believe they play a vital role in protecting the health of individuals and the public at large. That does not mean, however, that every vaccine is healthy, imperative, or right for every individual in every circumstance.”
Carrey goes on to acknowledge that vaccines have saved millions of lives from whooping cough, smallpox and more deadly diseases. “There is no question that many of these vaccines have been among the greatest medical advancements in history. There is also no question that vaccines can and do injure people as the hundreds of millions of dollars awarded in vaccine court have proved.”
The vaccine court Carrey refers to is officially known as the Office of Special Masters of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. The so-called vaccine court is a little-known system that is intended to address claims of Americans who believe their children have been harmed by vaccinations. The court is an established part of the federal judiciary system, however, the authorities over the cases are not called judges but rather “special masters.”
In late 2014, TruthInMedia reported that the Associated Press examined hundreds of court decisions, performed more than 100 interviews, and studied a database containing more than 14,500 cases. The database was last updated in January 2013, with the government refusing to release any new updates.
The AP investigation found several issues with the court. These included tens of millions of taxpayer dollars paid to private attorneys who often practice “churning,” a practice described as filing a large number of claims regardless of the quality of the claims. In the private court, attorneys are paid out whether or not they succeed in convincing the court. That fact has lead to questionable billing practices and an increase in court claims.
The AP report also found that “expert” witnesses for the families and the government often have a lack of credibility or conflicts of interest. The report said that some of the experts are also involved in setting up nonprofits that question vaccine safety. Meanwhile, doctors hired by the government to testify in defense of vaccines have ties to the pharmaceutical industry.
The AP report seems to confirm Jim Carrey’s concerns. “Over the past 20 or so years, pharmaceutical companies have given nearly $300 million to candidates for federal office, spent almost $200 millioninfluencing California state elections, and have amassed over $3 billion in fees for high-powered lobbyists in Washington,” he writes. “I don’t think its crazy to be suspicious when these companies receive guaranteed revenue streams from politicians they have spent billions trying to influence.”
Carrey also says that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) operates a “revolving door” which  “spins in perpetuity.”He also mentions CDC whistleblower Dr. William Thompson. In February of this year, TruthInMedia reported on the existence of a whistleblower within the CDC. Dr. William Thompson alleges that a study he worked on “fudged numbers” to lower the number of black children who were adversely affected by a certain type of vaccine.
Journalist Ben Swann later confirmed that Dr. Thompson did, in fact, turn over documents to Congressman Bill Posey’s office:
“Congressman Bill Posey’s office has confirmed exclusively to Benswann.com that a ‘very large number’ of documents have been turned over by CDC scientist, Dr. William Thompson, who has admitted that the CDC suppressed information about the links between the MMR vaccine and autism in some cases.
“According to Congressman Posey’s spokesman, George Cecala, ‘I can confirm that we have received a very large number of documents and we are going through those documents now. There are a lot of them, so it will take some time.’ Cecala could not say exactly how many documents are in possession of the Congressman’s staff though sources tell me that as many as 100,000 documents have been handed over.”
Again, Jim Carrey does not seem to be a raving madman but rather, someone who is well-researched and generally concerned. Lastly, he remarks about the dangers of allowing the government to make health decisions for individuals and families.
“It is simply unacceptable for the government to infringe on this right by forcing a mother or father to accept a one-size-fits-all approach to their child’s medical care. Such a requirement should never be tolerated, but is particularly troubling when questions still remain concerning the safety of certain chemicals used to produce some vaccines.”
So far it seems like the corporate media is not buying Carrey’s latest memo.
Whether you believe what he is saying or not, it seems perfectly reasonable to ask the government to allow free individuals to make their own health decisions. If the people of the United States allow the government to decide what vaccines they can and cannot have, it will only be a matter of time before every free person is subject to the will of the State. Jim Carrey seems to offer a warning of what may come if we do not assert our rights.
“I haven’t lost my sense of humor folks. It’s just buried under the rubble that was once my faith in government oversight. But there’s a time to laugh and a time for a serious debate over what it could mean to have our civil liberties taken away by our government at the behest of pharmaceutical companies and their shareholders. If we just sit back and let corporate clout call the shots our children may not remember what freedom was.”
What are your thoughts? Are the legitimate dangers associated with vaccinations? Is this a paranoid conspiracy? Leave your comments below.

Does Elon Musk’s Tesla Model S ‘Signal the Beginning of the End for Oil?’

Written By:  | ecowatch.com

Elon Musk’s $5 billion Tesla “Gigafactory” in Story County, Nevada isn’t just going to be big, it’s going to be the biggest in the world.
At least that’s the word on the street after Story County official Dean Haymore revealed that the electric vehicle/battery maker initially bought a thousand acres to start with, then recently swooped up another 1,200 acres and another 350 acres on top of that.
As Tech News Today writes, Tesla “initially intended to purchase 10 million square-feet of land for its Gigafactory, but after recent plans of acquisitions, it seems Tesla will end up with more than 24 million square-feet of land, making it the largest factory in the world.”
Haymore starts talking about the massive purchase around the 6:44 mark in this video:

It’s no surprise that Tesla is collecting some serious acreage, because it will need a lot of space for its ambitious plans.
“With a planned production rate of 500,000 cars per year in the latter half of this decade, Tesla alone will require today’s entire worldwide production of lithium ion batteries,” the companysaid. “The Tesla Gigafactory was born of necessity and will supply enough batteries to support our projected vehicle demand.”
The factory, which will be powered by renewable energy, is gunning for an annual battery production capacity of 35 gigawatt-hours, according to the Tesla Motors.
Construction of the Gigafactory is well underway. Hybrid Cars reports that the first construction phase of a 90,000 square foot building is nearly done and will soon be ready to install manufacturing equipment. Check out aerial footage of the factory’s huge expanse in this video:

As previously reported by EcoWatch, Tesla is building its Gigafactory to not only produce enough lithium-ion batteries to change the EV market and drive down prices, the company is also planning to storm the solar energy sector. In its partnership with SolarCity, Tesla is incorporating its batteries with SolarCity’s solar system to allow customers to store the excess energy created by the panels.
Tesla’s CEO makes it no secret that he’s planning on revolutionizing the energy grid. “Our goal here is to fundamentally change the way the world uses energy,” Musk told Bloomberg. “We’re talking at the terawatt scale. The goal is complete transformation of the entire energy infrastructure of the world.”
It appears that Big Oil and Gas are bracing for the clean energy revolution. Tesla’s very own Model S landed on the cover of Alberta Oil, an oil industry glossy, with the tagline “Hell on Wheels.”
The accompanying story has a title that says it all: “Is Tesla’s Model-S the Beginning of the End for Oil?”

Jihad: It’s Not What You Think It Is

When Americans—or non-Muslims in general—hear the word “jihad,” they immediately associate it with extremist groups such as ISIL, Al-Qaeda, or the Taliban, as well as their terrorist acts in the name of “Allah.” They might also envision these groups enforcing their corrupted version of Islam onto people of other faiths. However, this misconstrued definition of the word “jihad” is one of the most widespread misconceptions about Islam.
Jihad—in the most pure, Quranic sense of the word—does not instruct Muslims to wage war against non-Muslims or non-believers. It does not promote the use of violence, period. It literally means,“struggling or striving.”
For most Muslims, jihad represents “internal as well as external efforts to be a good Muslim or believer, as well as working to inform people about the faith of Islam.” Therefore, Jihad is the way that a Muslim strives to be as pure as possible in mind, body, and spirit to avoid straying from their faith, to keep God in mind, and to do good deeds—with one’s actions as well as with one’s money (i.e. giving to charity).
Violence in regards to performing jihad is not permitted unless it is in self-defense: “When used in the narrower sense of fighting against a visible enemy, jihad means fighting only in self-defense, when the initiative of attack is taken by the other party.”
Similar to Islam, one can say that Christianity, too, maintains an essence of jihad. Christians, as guided by the Bible, should fight one’s compulsions to commit sin or to act in a way that would go against the teachings of Jesus Christ. As Huffington Post states“struggling is a fundamental element of the Christian faith. (Jesus) told his disciples to ‘strive to enter in at the narrow gate…’, which mirrors the popular Muslim notion of staying on the ‘straight path’ and maintaining dedication to practicing Islam to the best of ones[sic] ability.”
Western media is largely to blame for these misconceptions about Islam— including the meaning of jihad. Like every other major faith, Islam and its teachings do not promote violence. Rather, extremists take the religion they “follow” and manipulate it to fit their own agendas. From there, the corporate-owned mainstream media further perpetuates the falsified “faith-based” ideologies and allows the public at large to continue believing things that are simply untrue.
It’s easier for Americans to believe that extremist maniacs are acting in the name of a religion opposite of their own than to realize and confront the fact that it is—in many ways—due to the actions of their country that paved the way for these terrorist groups to exist and thrive in the first place.

Analysis: Intelligence Levels of Popular Music Lyrics

Andrew Powell-Morse of SeatSmart conducted a study into the intelligence levels of popular music, covering the main genres. The study has served to confirm the obvious: Popular music lyrics are dumb, and they’re only getting worse.
The study looks at the most popular songs, artists, and genres of the last 10 years, ending in 2014. It shows that 10 years ago, songs read between a third and fourth grade level, but the levels have continued to drop with an additional downward tumble that began about 5 years ago.

Is we really getting more stupider?

Provided below are a series of graphs (for those of us who need pictures) that show the results of the study.

While the results are certainly enlightening, it’s important to note that this data doesn’t touch on the meaning of a song, the metaphors, how the words connect with the artist’s personal story, etc. to create deeper meaning. These numbers are fun and interesting, so just enjoy them.

Graph 1
As shown above, the average reading level of popular songs has teetered somewhere between grades 2.5 and 3 since 2007, and they’re only getting lower. So how do men and women fair against one another?

Graph 2

Apparently 2009 wasn’t a very smart year for female lyrics, however by 2014 they evened out with their male counterparts at a little over a 2.5 grade level. In general though:

… Women seem to be a bit smarter than men, except for when they’re not (i.e., 2008-2009). Ultimately, the genre and the artist matter much more than the gender.

On to genres:

Graph 3

There are many who may not be pleased with the outcomes, but it would seem Country has the smartest lyrics. Looking over the average U.S. reading level by grade and genre:

Country: 3.3

Pop: 2.9 (tie)

Rock: 2.9 (tie)

R&B/Hip-Hop: 2.6

It seems there’s a reason Country has made the top of the list in this section. Word length plays a large part, and Country doesn’t often repeat words like “oh” and “yeah” 20 times in a row. Syllables play their part as well with many Country songs using words such as “Hallelujah, cigarettes, hillbilly, and tackle-box.”
The scores of other genres, such as Pop and R&B/Hip-Hop, are effected by songs like “Buy U a Drank” by T-Pain, which scored slightly above a 1st grade reading level. Rock has plummeted as well, with songs like Ozzy Osbourne’s “I Don’t Wanna Stop” which scored a 1.6 grade reading level. In 2009, however, Country reached its low point with songs like “Then” by Brad Paisley, which scored a 2.2 grade level.
Let’s take a closer look at how word count plays into the picture:

Graph 4

There’s a definite correlation between the average length of a song and the average grade level, however it’s an inverse relationship, meaning that shorter songs actually have a higher grade level. The graph above shows that R&B/Hip-Hop and Pop seem to be “talking a lot and not saying much.” Country and Rock fared much better.
Moving on to “artist vs. artist,” Powell-Morse went through each category, picking 7 of the top artists “based on their number of hit songs and how long those songs stayed at #1.”

Graph 5

Who scored the highest? Would the real Slim Shady please stand up… That’s right, Marshall Bruce Mathers the III, better known by his stage name, Eminem, scored the highest grade level with a word count averaging at about 700. Beyonce scored the lowest grade level, however Kanye West takes the prize as the artist who talks the most while saying the least.

Graph 6

Carrie Underwood scored highest in the Country genre, with an average grade level of 3.72, while Florida Georgia Line scored at the bottom with 2.93. One thing is definitely apparent though, Country stars actually “say” more than those in the Hip-Hop genre, rather than filling their lyrics with repetitive words or phrases.

Graph 7

Rock also seems to fall in the “shortest lyrics, most sophisticated” category, however the genre also tends to stand firmly in the 2nd to 3rd grade region.

If there’s a single stunning fact about this genre, it still has to be that not a single female singer made it onto the Rock list. That means not a single lady stayed at the top of the charts for four or more weeks during the entire last 10 years. Why that might be frankly deserves its own post.

How does all of this compare to Pop artists?

Graph 8

Mariah Carey scores higher than any other artist with almost a 4th grade level while Ke$ha, on the other hand, scored the lowest along with Lady Gaga. While Justin Timberlake scored a 3rd grade reading level, his lyrics don’t seem to “say” much. So how do artists and their songs compare when all genres are put together?

Graph 9

And of course, here is the inevitable “list of shame,” or the dumbest 10 songs of the last 10 years:

Graph 10

For additional listings, see SeatSmart’s full article.
After reviewing Andrew Powell-Morse’s study, those at the AntiMedia have questioned how this has happened, and why it’s getting even worse. The first point they bring to attention is that while some may argue there is nothing wrong with a little mindless distraction, this is “incontrovertibly false.”

When just six corporations control 90% of the media, and 80% of radio stations have identical playlists, mindless content isn’t a choice—it’s a virtual mandate. In this self-propelled cycle of banality, the conglomerates dictate content to be promoted by radio, which in turn pushes it endlessly, creating a false perception that what is being played is due to listener demand. But this insidious marketing ploy is more akin to kidnapping and is every bit as dangerous.

Brain exercises and flexing one’s intellect has been shown to prevent cognitive decline, however our airwaves perpetuate and support a cultural shift away from stimulating thought in favor of “homogenization and living for the moment.”

Society is focused on entertainment, materialism, and self-promotion, and when coupled with a need for instant gratification, it’s really no wonder we’re in such a sorry state.

The second point those at the AntiMedia bring up is our educational system, and how the same, dulling methods are regurgitated onto our children in the classroom. Teachers are forced to repeat generalized information so that their students can pass tests rather than becoming innovators and original thinkers. Their performance and salaries are ranked by how well their students perform on tests that are, themselves, flawed.

This country has spent billions on accountability, not on the improvement of teaching and learning at the classroom level,” stated Rani Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers.

There are those who believe our current system was carefully orchestrated to keep the average citizen as stupid as possible, and even if it wasn’t, it still works rather favorably for the government—between music, the cultural focus on mindless diversion, and a lacking educational system, people are unable to recognize the absurdity of the system.

We don’t educate people anymore. We train them to get jobs.” – Catherine Liu, film and media studies professor at the University of California.

Journalist, Charles Pierce:

The rise of idiot America today represents—for profit mainly, but also and more cynically, for political advantage in the pursuit of power—the breakdown of a consensus that the pursuit of knowledge is a good.”
